Hey, What’s Up with the Library?
Over the break, we began the process of converting the library to luxury condos! No, not really…. The five new rooms in the Main Reading Room and the five new rooms in the East Reading Room will become faculty offices this summer. Faculty currently located at the south end of the law school must vacate when construction begins on the connecting bridge between the old and new law school buildings. For now, students may use the rooms as study spaces. Unlike the study rooms on the Mezzanine, however, these rooms do not have doors, so please help us keep the library quiet by refraining from conversations in these rooms. (Setting up your own private office is a no-no too. If you attempt to do so, you will be forced to swallow a mouthful of those earplugs in the candy jar-the ones that look so much like luscious lemon drops.)
Notice, too, that there are three new sets of tables and chairs in the Main Reading Room. They are samples for you to try out as potential replacements for the reading room furniture in the renovated library. Let us know which style you prefer. (Don’t be concerned about the finish. The architects will ensure that everything is color coordinated.)
Welcome back and Happy New Year!
